Internet Outage Across Pakistan Linked to Upstream Provider Fault
According to an official statement from Nayatel, the problem originated from an upstream service provider responsible for routing international internet traffic into Pakistan. The technical fault has cascaded down to multiple local providers, causing widespread instability in services.
Flooding across different parts of the country is believed to be a contributing factor to the disruption. As monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc on infrastructure, internet lines and networks have become vulnerable to damage, further slowing down the restoration process.
Tracking platform DownDetector has recorded a sharp increase in outage complaints. With users from major cities including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi reporting difficulties in accessing websites and essential online services. Social media platforms also saw a surge in posts from affected users who expressed concern over the prolonged downtime.
Service providers including PTCL and Ufone have acknowledged the issue and assured customers that their teams are working with upstream partners to resolve it. However, no official timeline has been given for full restoration.
