A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Indian expat community in the UAE. A 30-year-old Indian woman, Athulya Shekhar, was found dead in her apartment near Rolla Park in Sharjah just days before she was set to begin a new job.
Athulya had recently moved to the UAE and was excited about starting work at a nearby mall. Her death came as a shock, especially since she had spent her birthday just a day earlier, celebrating with her sister and sharing sweets.
Indian Woman Found Dead in Sharjah Under Mysterious Circumstances
According to reports, Athulya had asked her husband for money to commute to her new job. When he refused, she gave him gold in exchange for cash. He then left the house and, upon returning, claimed he found the apartment door open and his wife dead inside.
The incident has raised serious questions, and authorities have launched a full investigation. The Indian Consulate in the UAE has confirmed it is in contact with local officials and is offering support to the grieving family.
Athulya is survived by her husband and a 10-year-old daughter who is currently in India, studying in Grade 5. Her father, a former Gulf expat himself, now works as an autorickshaw driver in Kerala.
So far, there are no confirmed details about the cause of death. The circumstances remain unclear, and investigators are still gathering information. The case has sparked conversations about the pressures faced by expat families and the emotional toll of financial struggles abroad.
As the investigation continues, friends and supporters are calling for transparency and justice in uncovering the truth behind Athulya’s untimely death.
