Appeal moved against termination of PTI ex chairman Imran Khan’s trial in Cipher Case

In a recent development, an appeal was filed with the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday, challenging the termination of the trial of the former chairman of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) in a cipher case by a special court.

The appeal urges the court to overturn the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) judgment dated November 21, 2023, wherein the special court’s termination was approved. The petitioner contends that the high court overlooked several crucial legal aspects in its decision regarding the case.

The petitioner firmly asserts that the high court does not possess the authority to terminate the status of a special court. This move to the Supreme Court reflects the petitioner’s dissatisfaction with the IHC’s decision and aims to seek a fair and thorough reconsideration of the trial termination. The legal proceedings surrounding the cipher case continue to unfold, and the appeal adds another layer to the ongoing legal debate.
