The Harry Potter TV series cast has finally been revealed by HBO, alongside a first-look image of the young actor playing Harry Potter. The reboot will span seven seasons over the next decade, with each season dedicated to one book from J.K. Rowling’s original series. Slated to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027, the show promises more depth and detail than the films.

Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter
Scottish child actor Dominic McLaughlin stars as the Boy Who Lived. Known for upcoming roles in the Sky comedy film Grow and BBC’s Gifted, Dominic now takes on one of the most iconic roles in fantasy. The first-look image shows him in Gryffindor robes, with his lightning scar and round glasses.
Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger
Best known for playing Matilda in Matilda: The Musical on London’s West End, 11-year-old Arabella Stanton joins the cast as the brilliant and brave Hermione Granger.
Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley
Alastair Stout, a fresh face in acting, plays the lovable Ron Weasley. His only known acting credit so far is in a food commercial, but he now joins the main trio at the heart of the Wizarding World.
John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore
Award-winning actor John Lithgow will portray the wise and complex Hogwarts headmaster. He called the role “the defining one for the final chapter of my life.”
Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall
Tony and Golden Globe winner Janet McTeer plays Deputy Headmistress McGonagall. The role was famously played by Dame Maggie Smith in the original films.
Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape
Emmy-nominated actor Paapa Essiedu brings intensity to the role of Severus Snape, previously played by Alan Rickman. He is expected to bring a fresh take to the deeply layered character.
