Pakistan batter Haider Ali has been placed under provisional suspension by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a criminal investigation currently underway in the United Kingdom. The board made the announcement on Thursday, confirming that Greater Manchester Police are leading the investigation.
According to PCB, the alleged incident occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of England. While details remain undisclosed due to legal sensitivity, the board has emphasized that it is committed to respecting the ongoing legal procedures in the UK and will not interfere with the process.
The 24-year-old cricketer, who has represented Pakistan in two One Day Internationals and 35 T20 Internationals since his debut in 2020, has been temporarily removed from all cricketing activities. The provisional suspension takes effect immediately and will stay in place until the investigation concludes.

In a statement, PCB confirmed that Haider Ali has been given access to appropriate legal assistance to ensure his rights are protected throughout the investigation. The board highlighted that this measure aligns with its duty of care toward contracted players, especially when legal complexities are involved abroad.
“The PCB will refrain from making further comments until legal proceedings reach their conclusion,” the statement read. “Once the facts are established, the PCB reserves the right to take further action under its Code of Conduct.”
This development casts uncertainty over Haider Ali’s immediate future in cricket, especially as the board maintains a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to discipline and integrity. Meanwhile, fans and the cricketing fraternity await further clarity as the legal process unfolds in the United Kingdom.
