Key Rules Passengers Must Follow
- Only one power bank under 100Wh is allowed per passenger.
- Power banks must be stored in seat pockets or under the seat, not in overhead bins.
- Power banks cannot be used to charge devices onboard.
- Charging power banks using the plane’s power supply is strictly prohibited.
Why the New Policy?
Lithium batteries in power banks can overheat, catch fire, or even explode due to a phenomenon known as thermal runaway. The risk increases when passengers use low-quality power banks without overcharge protection. Emirates aims to minimize these dangers by limiting usage and ensuring devices remain within easy reach of the crew.
