The Government of Balochistan has launched a subsidized electric scooter scheme to provide affordable transportation for citizens. The initiative mainly targets students, working women, and the general public.
The provincial government signed a formal agreement with the National Bank of Pakistan to offer electric scooters on easy installment plans. The signing ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti attended the ceremony along with senior provincial officials and representatives of the National Bank of Pakistan. The partnership aims to make modern transport accessible without placing a financial burden on citizens.
According to Chief Minister Bugti, the scheme will help solve daily commuting issues faced by students and working women. He stated that safe and affordable transport remains a major challenge across the province. Therefore, the government decided to introduce a practical and long-term solution.
The electric scooter scheme also promotes environmentally friendly transport. Electric vehicles reduce fuel consumption and help control air pollution. Moreover, they offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional fuel-powered bikes.
