Pakistan has moved a step closer to improving its preparation for the Los Angeles twenty twenty eight Olympic Games as eight national athletes secured Olympic scholarships for two years. The Pakistan Olympic Association confirmed the new list and stated that the support will help the athletes train with better structure and more consistent planning. The programme will also assist their participation in key international events that shape their qualification journey.
The International Olympic Committee Olympic Solidarity Programme will provide each athlete with thirteen thousand five hundred dollars per year. The funding period begins in September twenty twenty five and continues until August twenty twenty eight. As a result, the athletes will receive long term support that strengthens their efforts during the next Olympic cycle. The programme aims to help developing nations and offers financial and technical assistance to athletes preparing for major competitions.
Arshad Nadeem leads the new scholarship group
Arshad Nadeem stands out as the most recognised athlete in the group. He represents athletics and has earned global attention through strong performances at previous international events. He continues to train for top level competitions and the scholarship will allow him to attend more international meets. These events play an important role in shaping his preparation for the next Olympic Games. Moreover, the scholarship gives him a chance to maintain a stable training plan which remains essential for elite level performance.
The National Rifle Association of Pakistan received the highest number of scholarships. Five shooters made the list which reflects the association’s growing progress in recent years. Kishmala Talat leads the shooting group. She became the first Pakistani woman to qualify directly for the Olympic Games after her achievement in Paris twenty twenty four. Her selection for the scholarship adds further momentum to her development and allows her to continue competing at international events.
Additionally, Rabia Kabir, Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, Sulaiman Khan and Imam Haroon were included in the shooting group. All of them have experience in regional and international competitions. The new support will help them compete more often and improve their world ranking points. Frequent participation also exposes them to higher standards of competition which strengthens their overall preparation.
Two more athletes added from table tennis and taekwondo
The scholarship list features athletes from two more sports. Table tennis player Haiqa Hassan earned her place after consistent results at the national level. She continues to work toward international qualification and the scholarship will provide her with greater opportunities. Taekwondo competitor Fateemaah tuz Zahraa Khawar also secured selection. Her recent progress in regional events made her a strong candidate and the new support will help her expand her competitive schedule.
The Pakistan Olympic Association shared a message to recognise the achievements of the selected athletes. The association praised their commitment and noted that the new support will strengthen their plans for the next three years. The message also highlighted that the athletes have shown determination and resilience during their journey.
