Dubai has announced a visionary new project — a Dh4.7 billion Endowment District — dedicated to supporting global health and education. The initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reinforces the nation’s commitment to philanthropy and sustainable development.
A Global Model for Giving | Dubai Endowment District
The new district, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, will serve as a permanent charitable endowment. Its annual proceeds will directly fund educational institutions and healthcare programs across the world, ensuring long-term support for underprivileged communities.
Designed to be both modern and functional, the Endowment District will feature:
- A state-of-the-art hospital serving up to 90,000 patients annually
- A medical university
- Schools for over 5,000 students
- 2,000 residential housing units
- A vibrant boulevard, retail outlets, and community facilities
This large-scale development blends charitable giving with urban innovation, creating a lasting source of support for humanity.
Announcing the project on his official X (Twitter) account, Sheikh Mohammed stated:
“Thanks God, we have launched an endowment project worth Dh4.7 billion under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It is a perpetual charitable endowment whose proceeds will go towards supporting health and education projects around the world.”
He extended his appreciation to all contributors, particularly Azizi Developments, for their role in bringing this vision to life. The initiative, he emphasized, reflects the UAE’s enduring culture of generosity and its mission to make goodness sustainable.

The Dubai Endowment District is expected to become a global model for philanthropic urban projects, empowering communities far beyond the UAE’s borders. With its combination of healthcare, education, and residential innovation, it will create a continuous cycle of giving that benefits generations to come.
As Sheikh Mohammed concluded:
“We thank God for His guidance. May He accept from us and from you all good deeds.”
