GPT-5 comes in four versions: nano, mini, standard, and chat. A built-in routing system automatically picks the right variant for each request. For highly complex queries, users can activate “GPT-5 Thinking Mode” to unlock deeper reasoning and more detailed answers.

OpenAI says GPT-5 performs at PhD-level knowledge across more than 40 professional domains, including law, healthcare, engineering, logistics, sales, and software development. It also has 45% fewer hallucinations compared to GPT-4o, meaning answers are more accurate and trustworthy.
Coding Benchmarks Show Big Gains
In coding benchmarks, GPT-5 scored:

- Aider Polyglot: 88%
These results outperform GPT-4’s 52% and even surpass the O3 model’s 69.1%. GPT-5 can chain tool calls, follow longer multi-step instructions, and handle advanced tasks like debugging or generating complete user interfaces.
Huge Context Window for Bigger Projects
With support for up to 400,000 input tokens for both text and vision, GPT-5 can process large documents, extended conversations, or complex images in one go. Output capacity reaches 128,000 tokens, ideal for lengthy reports or detailed project builds.
Users can also customize its personality by choosing from styles like Cynic, Robot, Listener, or Nerd. Plus, it integrates with Gmail and Google Calendar, enabling direct email and schedule management inside ChatGPT.
