A Celestial Spectacle for the Night Sky
According to official details, the eclipse will begin at 8:28 pm on September 7 with the penumbral phase. The partial eclipse will start at 9:27 pm, leading up to the peak at 11:12 pm, when the moon will glow deep red. The eclipse will then continue until the early hours of September 8, ending at 1:55 am. In total, the entire event will last 5 hours and 27 minutes.
Astronomers explain that the red hue of the Blood Moon occurs when sunlight is filtered through Earth’s atmosphere before reaching the lunar surface. This natural effect has fascinated humanity for centuries, often inspiring myths and legends across cultures.
The event will not be limited to Pakistan. It will also be visible across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Pacific region. For Pakistanis, however, it carries special importance as it is the first-ever Blood Moon observable in the country’s skies.
