The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $1 million to support Pakistan as it faces devastating monsoon floods. The funds will be given through the World Health Organization (WHO) to boost emergency response and preparedness across the country.
Support for Flood-Affected Communities
The WHO said the aid will cover 33 high-risk districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan. The project will provide urgent health services to more than 465,000 people.
The donation will also help authorities keep life-saving medical care running in flood-hit areas. Many hospitals and clinics have been damaged, and access to treatment is limited. With waterborne diseases spreading, international assistance is becoming vital.
Pakistan is dealing with one of its worst flood disasters in recent years. Heavy monsoon rains have submerged villages, destroyed homes, and washed away farmland across several provinces. Rivers such as the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab have crossed danger levels. Thousands of families have been displaced, with many cut off from nearby towns.

The government has declared emergencies in multiple districts. The army is working on rescue and relief missions, moving people to safer ground and providing food and shelter. Health risks remain high, making global aid essential.
Bill Gates’ contribution comes at a critical time. It will strengthen health response in communities that need immediate help. The support also shows the importance of global partnerships when climate disasters strike.
For families affected by the floods, this donation means quicker access to doctors, medicines, and relief supplies. It is also a reminder that in times of crisis, collective action can save lives and restore hope.
