Islamic Scholar Claims Babar Azam Affected by Black Magic

A viral statement by an Islamic scholar has sparked widespread discussion after he claimed that Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam recent dip in performance could be linked to black magic. The remarks surfaced during the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where Babar Azam has faced criticism over his batting form.

The claim quickly gained attention across social media platforms, triggering debate among cricket fans and analysts. While some users treated the statement humorously, others criticized the spread of supernatural explanations for sporting performance.

Babar Azam, once ranked among the world’s top T20 batters, has struggled to deliver consistent performances during the tournament. In five innings, he has scored 91 runs at an average of 22.75, a figure that reflects a challenging phase in his career.

Performance struggles increase scrutiny

Pakistan’s recent match against England intensified criticism after Babar scored 25 runs off 24 balls. Observers pointed to his strike rate as a factor in Pakistan’s inability to post a competitive total. The performance added pressure on the star batter, who has long carried high expectations from fans and selectors.

Head coach Mike Hesson recently adjusted the batting order by moving Babar Azam to the number four position. Team management explained that the decision aimed to address concerns about powerplay scoring rates and overall team balance.

Babar’s struggles have extended beyond international cricket. During his first Big Bash League season with the Sydney Sixers, he scored 202 runs in 11 matches at an average of 22.44. His strike rate of 103.06 drew criticism, as it ranked among the lowest for players scoring over 200 runs in a single BBL season.

Although he registered two half centuries, he failed to reach 15 runs in most of his appearances. Analysts say the numbers highlight a longer period of inconsistency rather than a temporary slump.

The scholar’s comments emerged amid ongoing discussions about Babar Azam’s performance across formats. In Test cricket, he has not scored a century since 2022 and recorded a modest average during recent matches. His ICC T20I ranking has also dropped significantly compared to previous years.

Former cricketers and experts continue to offer differing opinions about his future in the format. Some believe he can regain form through adjustments in approach and role, while others argue that modern T20 cricket demands faster scoring styles.

Despite the controversy, many fans continue to support the batter and urge patience during his rebuilding phase. The viral claim has added an unusual dimension to the conversation, reflecting how public reactions often extend beyond cricketing analysis during periods of poor form.
