Porsche is finally bringing hybrid power to its iconic 911 Turbo lineup. The 911 Turbo just got its first taste of electricity, and car enthusiasts are paying attention.
After refreshing the Carrera and GTS models for 2025, Porsche has now turned its focus to the 2026 911 Turbo Convertible. The latest spy shots show the drop-top model in near production form, giving a close look at what’s coming next.
Hybrid Power Joins the Porsche 911 Turbo Line
The new 911 Turbo will feature a hybrid powertrain, taking cues from the GTS. While the current Turbo models use a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six, the new version may switch to a 3.0-liter engine paired with a small electric motor. That same GTS motor setup produces 532 hp, but the new Turbo could push up to 700 hp in the “S” version.
Unlike plug-in hybrids, this will be a standard hybrid system. There is no expected EV-only mode, making it different from cars like the E-Ray Corvette. The electric motor will likely sit inside the dual-clutch PDK transmission. Manual transmission options won’t be included, but Turbo fans haven’t seen a stick shift in over a decade anyway.

Visually, the new Turbo shows signs of serious updates. Active aero flaps appear in the front grille, similar to the GTS. There’s also an illuminated Porsche badge at the rear, along with a fully digital gauge cluster inside. The new layout will also remove the rear seats by default, sticking to a two-seat design unless optional rear seats are added.
With a possible debut later this year, maybe even at the LA Auto Show. The new 911 Turbo is shaping up to be one of Porsche’s most advanced road cars yet. A bold blend of legacy and innovation is just around the corner.
