Spotify has officially confirmed a global Premium price hike in 2025. Users in regions including Europe, Asia-Pacific, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America will see the change reflected in their upcoming billing cycles.
The company has already started notifying users via email. A clear example is the Spotify Premium Individual plan in parts of Europe, where the monthly cost has gone up by €1. In countries like Spain and Italy, the price is now €11.99/month, up from €10.99.
Spotify Premium Price Increase 2025 Linked to Global Expansion and Licensing Costs
Spotify says this decision is tied to rising licensing and operational costs. As the platform continues to expand globally, costs for music royalties and infrastructure maintenance are increasing. The price adjustment will help Spotify invest further in product improvements and content offerings.
Although the US and Canada are not affected in this round, other major markets are. While there’s no official word on Pakistan, many believe a small increase is likely coming soon.
Interestingly, the price increase came shortly after Spotify’s Q2 2025 earnings report, which showed 276 million Premium subscribers. However, the company missed its revenue target by $100 million. Despite that, it saw a 5% rise in stock value after announcing the price changes. Analysts believe this will boost average revenue per user and reduce Spotify’s long-standing profitability gap.

For now, the Premium Duo, Family, and Student plans remain unchanged. But it’s unclear whether they will also see adjustments in the coming months.
The Spotify Premium price increase 2025 is part of a bigger strategy to balance growing costs with user experience. While the update may not please everyone, it reflects the pressures tech platforms face in a competitive and costly global market.
