Sultana Siddiqui – President HUM Network Limited

I take pride in the fact that wonderful things are happening in Pakistan, but we don’t promote them the way they should be done, and that is why people are mostly unaware of what is happening in our part of the world. One such field that is gaining impetus in our society is the fashion industry, and that is why I encourage fashion and its intricate thread-work and designing through our fashion shows to open a window. We have also given a platform to new designers to present their clothes, an opportunity that was otherwise not easily available to them. And as the shows are seen globally their work, along with the established designers’, gets known abroad. The aim of introducing new things at HUM Network carries foremost the purpose to give a positive image by negating the bad ones.

Mr Zeeshan Akhtar – Chairman and CEO QMobile

QMobile has a history of being associated with big stars from around the World and first ever QMobile Hum Style Awards, so it was a natural collaboration with HUM Network for another mega event, where all the stars from the fashion fraternity of the country will be present under one roof. QMobile is proud to be the front-runner for QMobile Bridal Couture Week styled by Sweet Touch. Looking forward to a star-studded night.

DESIGNERS’ INSPIRATIONS

WARDHA SALEEM: Wardha Saleem’s “RANGRAAZ” Bridal/Festive’16collection unravels the secret colours of love, traditions and celebration. Inspired by our rich and vibrant heritage, Wardha Saleem blends the bright hues of fuchsia, radiant oranges, vibrant greens, lustrous blues, passionate plums and rich reds in her own signature style. Using traditional block and screen printing techniques along with intricate embroideries and rich embellishments using pearls, gemstones and Swarovski crystals, Wardha Saleem reveals the celebration that lies hidden within these vibrant colours on the canvas of rich jamawars, pure silks and organza. The collection signifies pure luxury and attention to details and pays tribute to the craftsmanship and age old techniques of the sub-continent designed for a woman who believes in individualistic style and appreciates the finer things in life.

ZIGGI MENSWEAR:Ziggi Menswear presents “ZAWIYA” meaning ‘Gathering’. This collection is inspired by Ziggi’s spiritual journey. 2016 involved a lot of traveling to some of the hubs of spiritual and mystic places. The amount of knowledge and inspiration collected needed to be documented. As the collection name’s suggests it’s the gathering of many personal experiences and each piece has its own journey and story to tell. Zawiya is the resting place before the next journey begins.

FAIZA SAQLAIN: The inspiration for Soz Kesimi comes from the rich Turkish cultural and architectural heritage. The mesmerising mosaic lamps acted as a spur to the usage of sheeny fabric, translucent stones and the 3D tassels used in detailing of the pieces. Mukesh has been substantially added in addition to resham and other conventional materials for the same purpose. These lamps have also played a vital role in selection of the hues for the collection. Dolmamache Palace has also been a major source of inspiration for the motifs, which aim to reflect the grandeur and luxury of this splendid construction. Moreover, the exquisite craftsmanship of Turkish monuments and the mosaic art itself inspired the intensive use of cutwork which will be seen in most of the pieces. The culture, architecture and jewels have all been inculcated in the designs and mixed with sub-continental ethos to give Soz Kesimi a festive look as well as make it wearable for the contemporary woman of this region.

UMSHA BY UZMA BABAR:Umsha by Uzma Babar’s collection “AMORÉ” is about the blend of modern cuts and designs remaining loyal to cultural aesthetics. The colour palette is focused on Cameo Rose, Champagne, Rose Gold and all pastels colour tones. There is a subtle gold and silver touch to the designs which gives the ensemble the finishing touch. The collection is all about the fusion of modern cuts, designs and traditional artwork. We have experimented with the zardozi and the seven mesh technique which has been introduced by Umsha by Uzma Babar. “AMORE”  comprises of beautiful shararas, ghararas and farshi ghararas, based on luxe fabrics including silk net, French net, chantilly net and organza net with pure chiffons, masoori, heavy brocade, jamawar and raw silk for edging and finishing. The work and embellishments is primarily kora, dabka and nakshi adorned with pearls and sequins.

ASIFA & NABEEL:Crystallized native gold and quartz have a naturally exquisite composition which makes it extremely unique even when in raw form. The distinctive contours and shades of this amalgamation of gold and quartz is the inspiration of the collection ‘Crystalline’. It rejoices in the detail, delicacy and fluidity of this unique form of nature. The opulent shades of gold are the core of this collection symbolizing affluence and bounty of raw gold. Embellishment enriched garments imitate exceptional craftsmanship amalgamated with contemporary cuts and dainty silhouettes. The collection consists of flamboyant threadwork compositions with harmonious hints of colour and luster embellishments representing both opulence and grace.

NICKIE NINA:Nouvelle Mariée’ draws inspiration from the ornate architectural motifs of European palaces, the maestros Nickie and Nina reinvent Eastern couture with their Nouvelle Mariée, rethinking classics and not traditions. Featuring luxurious brocades, coupled with intricate multi-dimensional embroidery, the collection embraces the romance of royal couturiers of times gone by. Jewel tones – in hues of emerald, garnet and amethyst – bring to life these works of meticulous craftsmanship; whilst specialist cuts with a hint of peekaboo remain intertwined with the very definition of this collection. Presenting ‘Nouvelle Mariée’ – the new bride: monumental to say the least and fit for the powerful woman of today.

GRAND COUTURIERS:

ELAN:The collection features Élan’s signature craftsmanship with innovative new techniques, embellishments, motifs, embroideries and unique colour palettes. Intricate, feminine and modern all at the same time, Palais Indochine has something for everyone, be it an engagement, wedding or a personal ensemble for one’s trousseau. Further inspired by Chinoiserie and the sub-continental vista, Élan’s take on the classic red bridal was embellished with gold tilla and threadwork, with an emphasis on subverting traditional motifs and reinterpreting them in a manner that is contemporary yet classic.

NIDA AZWER:The collection takes its inspiration from geometric shapes and textured surfaces interspersed with detailed floral patterns and the ateliers signature bird and nature inspired motifs, incorporating detailed compositions worked in zardozi and resham. True to the ateliers revivalist ethos of using traditional craft in a contemporary narrative, Alankara introduces modern textures mixed with classic traditional zardozi work across experimental pieces such as intricately worked trench coats, shorter structured jackets and tops and high pleated gharara’s. The collection will also reveal intricately hand-crafted shawls or chaddars.

AMIR ADNAN:Bringing back the era of romance and regal elegance, The house of Aamir Adnan is set to showcase an exquisite collection at QHBCW 2016. The collection revives the formal elegant era of graceful sherwanis for men paired with sheer body skimming saris and ghararas for women, interwoven with elements of silk, satin and allure of lace work. House of Amir Adnan celebrates intimacy of togetherness by showcasing a collection that’s fit for a fancy eastern soirée.
