Sachin Tendulkar honored at Guinness World Records 60th anniversary celebrations

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has been honored as part of Guinness World Records 60th anniversary celebrations. To commemorate 60 years of the much loved Guinness World Records annual and record-breaking organisation, Guinness World Records have honored outstanding athletes from across the sports landscape with an exclusive 60th anniversary certificate and medal, in recognition of the fantastic achievements throughout the glittering careers which have earned them their Guinness World Record title.

Amongst the sportsmen and women included in the celebrations is the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who is universally regarded as the finest batsman to have ever played the game.

On announcing his three new Guinness World Records titles for Most test matches in a career, Most centuries scored in international cricket and Most runs scored in an international career, Sachin said: “I’m delighted to be included in the Guinness World Records 60th anniversary celebrations. I’m extremely proud of what I was able to achieve throughout my career in Cricket and to be recognized alongside so many other greats feels very special.”

In a career that spanned 24 years, transcended the sport and led to him being revered throughout his homeland, the “Little Master” played in a record 200 Tests, scoring 15,921 runs, and in 463 one-day internationals, scoring 18,426 runs.

Sachin, 41, retired last year with an unparalleled record of 100 international centuries.

He currently holds a staggering 19 Guinness World Records titles. These are:

– Most runs scored in One-Day Internationals in a calendar year (male)
– Most runs scored in an international career (male)
– Most player-of-the-match awards won (international career)
– Most One-Day International runs scored in a partnership (career)
– Most Test hundreds scored in a partnership (career)
– Most matches played in a One-Day International career (male)
– Most international hundreds scored in a partnership (career)
– Most hundreds in a Test match career (male)
– Most Test runs scored in a partnership (career)
– Most centuries scored in international cricket
– First player to score a double century in a One-Day International
– Most runs scored in a One-Day International career (male)
– Most runs scored by a player in an ICC World Cup tournament (male)
– Most runs scored in an ICC World Cup career (male)
– Most hundreds in a One-Day International career (male)
– Highest partnership for any wicket in a One-Day International (male)
– Most Test matches played in a career (male)
– Most runs scored in a Test match career (male)
– First player to score a double century in a 50-over international
