Sabeen Mahmud’s organisation PeaceNiche nominated for Holland’s top humans rights award

Sabeen Mahmud’s organisation Peace Niche has been nominated for Holland’s top humans rights award, the Tulip. Those who have visited The Second Floor (T2F) (PN’s flagship project) know what a special place it is. It was the the great labour of her life and she built it brick by brick with tremendous love, for the benefit of all.

For almost a decade it nurtured and supported countless artists, musicians, activists, poets and free thinkers. It also unfailingly provided a space for open expression for all those who were persecuted or dispossessed in Pakistan. T2F was the physical embodiment of the values for which Sabeen laid down her life; For tolerance, compassion, and love. In her absence the future of T2F is in doubt.

The award carries a sizeable grant which will allow T2F to keep its doors open for all and continue to be a beacon for democracy and progressive values.
