Pakistan Fashion Week Dubai 2014 at a Glance

Second season of Pakistan Fashion Week Dubai took place on 2nd December 2014 in Dubai. The event was brilliantly hosted by Asian Lifestyle on UAE’s 43rd National Day at the Crowne Plaza Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The event brought in designers from Pakistan, UK and UAE to showcase their work in the field of textile and fashion. Designers who showcased their collections at this exquisite event were , LALA
LAKHANI SILK MILL (LSM), LAKKHAS BY ASMA MALIK, KHAAS LIBAAS, EGO, MUNIB NAWAZ, NIKKI NINA, AESHA VARSY, zaheer Abaas, Zanaib chotani, yasmeen zaman, Shazia bridal gallery, Shakeela, Lajwanti & Farichino.

To mark the ocassion, Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large and PM’s Special envoy Javed Malik has said that cultural diplomacy plays a vital role projecting a soft image of Pakistan globally and pave the way to explore new avenues to boost our trade in the UAE and Gulf region. He was speaking after inaugurating the Pakistan Fashion & Lifestyle week in Dubai. The proceedings started with National Anthem of Pakistan as Ambassador Javed Malik arrived accompanied by Arab dignitaries and CEO Shahid Mian which not only added a positive sense of patriotic fervor among the many Expatriate Pakistanis but also impressed the Arabs and people from other nationalities present at the packed venue at a prestigious hotel in Dubai. While addressing the audience Ambassador Javed Malik appreciated the organizers and CEO Mr. Shahid Mian for putting together impressive show.

He highlighted Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and spoke passionately about the talented artists, craftsmen, designers, poets and writers who have added colour to Pakistan’s social fabric and termed them as the “Real Ambassadors of Pakistan”. He further said that, Pakistan Fashion Week Dubai provides an opportunity for Pakistani designers, textile exporters and fabric and jewelry traders to showcase their products in UAE in an effort to find new markets within the region as well as for re-export. He pointed out that Pakistani fabrics were in high demand in UAE and there is a need to better cater to this growing demand through effective channels of export promotion. “We will continue with various initiatives to create opportunities to enhance trade, encourage investment and promote a positive image of Pakistan through innovative diplomacy initiatives, he added.
