Here comes another news of Pakistani recognition in India, this time its the Mekaal Hasan band who got nominated for Global Indian Music Awards 2015 . Their latest album Andholan has been nominated for GIMA Awards in the Best Rock Album category.
MHB is the only Indo-Pak band of it’s kind featuring the best contemporary musicians from both India and Pakistan!
“This is a great achievement for the band, which is unique in how it comprises both Pakistani and Indian musicians, but the music that we play is Pakistani,” says Mekaal. “So, the nomination is something we are very happy about,” Mekaal Hasan added in an interview with tribune.
Mekaal Hasan Band, sometimes shortened to MHB, is a sufi rock band formed in Lahore, Pakistan in 1999 by composer-songwriter, guitarist Mekaal Hasan.
The band members have roots in different genres, including jazz, classical music, soul music, and sufi rock, the combination of each member has created a sound which has earned them fans from a variety of quarters.
